Welcome to Hagley Cricket Club's website.
We are a small village club in North Worcestershire three miles from Stourbridge and 12 miles southwest of Birmingham.
2009 is the club's 175th Anniversary and there will be a number of special events including a fortnight of fixtures listed in the Fixtures Section, and culminating with a large dinner on Friday 24th July.
We will be running three sides on Saturdays, playing in the Worcestershire County League. After both teams gained promotion, The First XI will play in the Second Division, with the Second XI in Division One for second teams.
The 3rd XI will play in Division 9 for the first time this season and will play their home games at Haybridge High School. Their season starts later on the 9th May and finishes on the 22nd August. The 3rds will have 16 games, rather than the 22 played by the senior sides. It is hoped that the 3rds will prove popular with new and existing members, who wish to play league cricket, but at not such a high standard as our senior sides compete. It will also act as introduction and learning environment for our better youngsters as they take the step up from 20 over evening cricket to Saturday afternoon cricket.
On Sundays, the majority of cricket that we play is well established friendlies, the majority of which are at home.
We have a thriving Junior section. Age groups start from 8 year olds, and sides run are at Under 11's,13's and 15's. The Under 11 age group practice on Fridays evenings and the older juniors on Monday evenings during the summer.
Our clubhouse is a traditional wooden building within the grounds of Hagley Hall and we play here courtesy of the Hall's owner, Viscount Cobham.
Within the clubhouse we have a bar and seating to watch games and good size home and away changing rooms with showers. We also have two artificial practice nets within the grounds which have recently been renovated.
We are privileged to play at one of the most beautiful grounds in the country recently voted as runner-up in the most picturesque ground competition in the Daily Telegraph. We have also recently been chosen as 1 of 3 clubs to be focused on in Sky Sports Club Life Programme shown on Sunday Lunchtimes of the 2009 Test Matches.
It is a very sociable club with a strong emphasis on young players with a large number of senior players having come up through our own youth set-up. However, we are always welcome new players at all levels. Please feel free to contact any of the committee listed on further pages.
